If there’s one thing we absolutely love about being wedding planners, it’s when a couple trusts us completely to bring their vision to life. That’s exactly what happened with Stephen and Kirsten’s breathtaking Steamboat Springs wedding, and honestly, it was one of the most rewarding planning experiences we’ve ever had! Picture this: a stunning family property nestled among golden aspens in September, fall colors that could make you weep with joy, and a couple so laid back they let us design their entire dream day from afar. Kirsten and Stephen’s Steamboat Springs wedding was pure magic, and we’re dying to share every gorgeous detail with you!
From the moment we connected with this incredible couple, we knew their Steamboat Springs wedding would be something special. Kirsten was away for training for 3-4 months during the planning process, which meant we were coordinating this entire celebration while she was stationed far from home. Talk about planning a wedding long distance! And Stephen? Well, let’s just say he was the most trusting groom ever – he was completely confident in our vision and Kirsten’s trust in us. It was like having complete creative freedom to design the Steamboat Springs wedding of their dreams!
When it comes to Steamboat Springs weddings, there’s something absolutely magical about September celebrations. The aspens were in their full golden glory, creating the most stunning natural backdrop you could ever imagine for a wedding! Kirsten wanted her Steamboat Springs wedding to embrace all the gorgeous fall colors that Colorado has to offer, and we went ALL out with a palette that included rich browns, soft blush tones, warm golds, romantic mauve, mustard yellows, and just a pop of deep red. These colors were absolutely perfect against the natural beauty of their family property in Steamboat Springs!
One of our favorite design elements for this Steamboat Springs wedding was incorporating actual fall fruits into the tablescape design. We’re talking about gorgeous pears, apples, and seasonal fruits that not only looked incredible but also added such a natural, organic feel to the celebration. Plus, the colors of the fruits complemented their palette so beautifully, it was like nature was helping us design the perfect wedding!
The family property where they held their Steamboat Springs wedding was absolutely stunning. Being surrounded by aspens in September meant we had this incredible golden canopy overhead, and the natural lighting was just chef’s kiss perfect for photos.
What made Kirsten and Stephen’s Steamboat Springs wedding extra special were all the personal touches that represented exactly who they are as a couple. First off, can we talk about how adorable their little puppy was?! Having their fur baby be part of the photos and the celebration just melted our hearts. There’s something so sweet about including your pets in your wedding day.
One detail that made this Steamboat Springs wedding even more meaningful was that Kirsten’s twin sister served as her maid of honor! The bond between them was so evident throughout the entire day, and it added such a beautiful layer of family love to the celebration.
And here’s something that totally blew us away about this Steamboat Springs wedding: Stephen and Kirsten flew in a live band all the way from Florida! They wanted their reception to be an absolute party, and nothing says “celebration” like live music. The energy that a live band brings to a wedding is just incomparable – it gets everyone on the dance floor and creates such an electric atmosphere. For a Steamboat Springs wedding, having that kind of energy against the backdrop of the mountains and aspens was absolutely magical.
One thing that made this Steamboat Springs wedding planning process so unique was that we essentially designed the entire event ourselves. Kirsten gave us complete creative freedom! Usually, we work collaboratively with our couples throughout the design process, but Kirsten trusted us so completely that she said, “Just make it beautiful!” and let us run with it. This level of trust is such a gift for wedding planners, and it allowed us to create something truly spectacular for their Steamboat Springs wedding.
If you’re planning your own Steamboat Springs wedding and you’re working with planners, here’s our biggest tip: trust your planning team! When you hire professionals who understand your vision and aesthetic, giving them creative freedom can result in something even more beautiful than you initially imagined. Kirsten’s trust in us allowed us to push creative boundaries and create design elements that perfectly captured the essence of a fall Steamboat Springs wedding.
Another tip for Steamboat Springs weddings: embrace the natural beauty of the location! The mountains, the aspens, the natural landscape – these are your best design elements. We designed this celebration to complement and highlight the stunning natural backdrop rather than compete with it. The fall colors we chose worked harmoniously with the golden aspens, and the result was absolutely breathtaking.
For couples planning from afar (especially those in the military like Kirsten), communication is key, but so is trust. We made sure to send regular updates, photos of design elements, and kept Kirsten in the loop even when she was thousands of miles away. Technology makes long-distance wedding planning so much more manageable than it used to be!
There’s something absolutely special about Steamboat Springs weddings that we just can’t get enough of! The combination of mountain views, charming small-town vibes, and incredible natural beauty makes it one of our favorite places to plan weddings in Colorado.
September is honestly one of the best times for a Steamboat Springs wedding. The weather is usually perfect – warm during the day but crisp in the evenings, which makes for comfortable celebrations and gorgeous photos. Plus, the aspens are in their full fall glory, creating the most stunning natural backdrop you could ask for. The golden light filtering through the aspen leaves during golden hour? Absolutely magical for wedding photos!
What we loved most about planning this Steamboat Springs wedding was how perfectly everything came together. The fall color palette, the natural setting, the personal touches, the live music – everything felt so cohesive and intentional, even though we were planning much of it from afar. It just goes to show that when you have the right team and couples who trust the process, magic happens!
The fact that Stephen and Kirsten chose a family property for their Steamboat Springs wedding made it even more special. There’s something so meaningful about celebrating your love in a place that holds family history and memories. It adds layers of significance to the day that you just can’t replicate at a traditional venue.
Stephen and Kirsten’s Steamboat Springs wedding was honestly one of those celebrations that reminded us why we absolutely love what we do. From the stunning fall colors to the intimate family property setting, from the long-distance planning adventure to the complete creative trust they gave us – every aspect of this wedding was special. The combination of their laid-back personalities, the gorgeous natural setting, and our ability to bring their vision to life resulted in a Steamboat Springs wedding that was absolutely unforgettable.
Their Steamboat Springs wedding perfectly captured what we love most about Colorado celebrations: the natural beauty, the relaxed mountain vibes, and the way the landscape enhances every single moment. From their adorable puppy in the photos to the live band that got everyone dancing under the aspens, every detail contributed to a day that was uniquely them.
We’re so grateful that Kirsten trusted us to design her dream Steamboat Springs wedding, and we hope their celebration inspires other couples to embrace the natural beauty and magic that Colorado mountain weddings have to offer. Here’s to love stories that span distances, couples who trust the process, and the absolute magic that happens when you celebrate love among the aspens!
